What should I wear to church?
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Some people get dressed up to come to church and others wear their jeans.
What happens during the service?
The programming of our service changes from week to week, but in general we have music, welcome/announcements and a biblical message. Often we have other creative or spiritual elements such as Communion or Baptisms.
Do I have to sing or can I just listen?
You are free to do whatever feels comfortable for you – you can stand or stay seated, sing along with the words on the screen or just listen to the music team.
What programming is available for children?
Children's Church is programming for kids from birth to grade 6. This awesome ministry is led by volunteers who are screened, trained and passionate about teaching children. All programs take place during the morning worship service.
Can my child stay with me during the service?
We know your kids would have fun in Children's Church (see question 4), but if you would prefer for your child to remain with you that is absolutely fine. Sitting near the back of the auditorium would allow for easy exit should you need to attend to your childs needs during the service.
If my friend/spouse/partner has a different belief, can he/she still come?
Yes, everyone is welcome at Kingston West Free Methodist Church. Invite family members, friends, your neighbours, or just come by yourself and meet some new people.
What does your church believe?
At Kingston West Free Methodist Church, our mission is to become committed, caring followers of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to become an authentic community of Christ-followers.
Communion? Can anyone take it? What do you have to know?
Communion is the sharing of bread and juice as a remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for our sins. All those who follow Jesus Christ and are walking with Him are welcome to take part in Communion.
Are there any activities that go on during the week?
There are various activities that take place at Kingston West Church during the week. The easiest way to find what you’re looking for on our website is to go to the events page where you will find all of the upcoming events. You can also email us or just call the church at 613-384-8878.
Should I feel obligated to give something when the offering is taken?
There are different ways we can give to God including our time, talents, and money. Here at Kingston West we rely entirely on donations to pay our bills, ministry costs, and staffing needs. It’s only through the generosity of others that we can continue doing what we believe God is asking us to do. If you are planning on just visiting our church please don’t feel obligated to give money. If you choose to make Kingston West Free Methodist a place you regularly attend, please consider how you might be able to share your time or finances. As to how much to give, we believe that is an individual decision. If you have questions about giving money to the church and how those funds are used, we would be happy to talk with you.
